Hi. My name is Matt.
I like everything about photographs, so I take a lot of them. You’ll find my favorites here.
I hate winter after December 25th. Wisconsin weather isn’t always enjoyable, but through my photography I’m able to appreciate it. Mostly.
It wasn’t until I was in my 30s that I found my life’s passion. Now, about that…
Taking pictures is something I enjoy, but for me, post-processing is where it’s at. Photoshop is my weapon of choice. I’ve never had any formal training, but I started learning Photoshop on my own in the late 90s to build graphics for websites. It wasn’t until the last 5 years that I started merging my ‘shop skills with my love for taking pictures.
Here’s my digital camera history:
- 2001 Olympus D340r. Literally, 2-3 seconds after one pushed the button to take a picture, the shutter would snap. 1.3 megapxels of pure digital frustration. Today, most camera phones have more megapixels.
- 2003 Kodak DX 7590. A nice upgrade from the Olympus. It took amazing natural-light outdoor photos, but lacked in the indoor/flash needed settings. The cost of DSLRs was starting to come down, and I yearned for more. This lead to my next camera purchase.
- 2006 Canon Digital Rebel XT. I have nothing negative to say about this camera. It was/is an amazing piece of machinery. It allowed me to take RAW pictures and start to exercise my love for post-processing the pictures I took. I would still be using it today if I hadn’t entered this contest, with this book, and WON! my next camera.
- 2011 Canon EOS 7D. I’m still learning many things about my 7D, but I am honored to have it. I literally earned it with my photos. I feel proud of that, and I feel like I owe it to the universe to share what I do with it. This is why we’ve both been lead here, to this blog.
Thank you for stopping by, and I’d be honored if you come back to visit.
